Aussie Travel 2023 - Part 2

The next day we traveled to Yandaran, a village consisting of a pub, a general store and a few houses. It seems that most pubs offer free camping behind their premises obviously expecting you to have a drink and/or meal and Bulla loves this deal! So we parked right behind the pub in this tiny village. I must admit the beer was yummy and refreshing and I even managed to get some ‘Bierdeckel’ (coasters) from the owner I can add to my collection. He had plastered the walls of his pub with them, something that I always wanted to do with my collection but have never done.

Yandaran

The next day we traveled to Yandaran, a village consisting of a pub, a general store and a few houses. It seems that most pubs offer free camping behind their premises obviously expecting you to have a drink and/or meal and Bulla loves this deal! So we parked right behind the pub in this tiny village. I must admit the beer was yummy and refreshing and I even managed to get some ‘Bierdeckel’ (coasters) from the owner I can add to my collection. He had plastered the walls of his pub with them, something that I always wanted to do with my collection but have never done.

While we were camping at the back of the pub a young black dog came up to us and didn’t seem wanting to leave again. He was very affectionate and behaved as if he belonged to us. We guess that’s what he had decided, poor thing. The owners of the pub had no clue where he came from and jokingly suggested for us to take him with us.

We got very fond of Bozo (we called him) and felt somehow sorry for him. When it got dark, he decided to lie down in front of the closed door to the caravan for a very long time. It was a bit heart-breaking as he was such a lovely-natured dog but we didn’t want to be too friendly to him as we knew we had to leave him behind again.
In the morning it didn’t take long for Bozo to come and greet us and look at us with hopeful eyes. He was wearing a collar with no tag and didn’t look undernourished, so we (want to) believe that he has a

home and that we don’t have to feel bad for not adopting him.

The forecast for the next week didn’t look good. Everywhere in a 500km radius they forecast rain from Monday to Thursday. Therefore we were looking for a nicer place somewhere in the bush where we can ‘weather the storms’. We decided to stay close to Bundaberg and found a lovely little bush camp.
