Aussie Travel 2023 - Part 2

After about 10 minutes we got there and found a spot where we could safely park. There was no soul around just a lot of trees, it was somewhere in the middle of nowhere. The road to the gravel pit descended quite steeply with a few wash-out ruts and the thought of coming up the steep slope the next day with Jacko in tow would mean too much bouncing around to get out of the ‘gravel pit’. Therefore, we decided to simply stop at the top of the steep entry road.

We got up early in the morning to discover that we were actually in the middle of the Jimna State forest, way up on the highest part of the area. The drive down the hills was interesting, very gravelly and loose with steep turns and we were keeping our fingers crossed that no trucks were rushing up the hill.
