At Sea

The knock at the door at 8:30 AM aroused us from our slumber. Tim jumped up to answer the knock but Pat was still too tired to do the same. She just waved to the young gentleman as he delivered our hot drinks. From that moment we decided to forgo our offensive stance towards sea sickness. We decided to wait and see how we would react.

The morning was spent on our room balcony enjoying the sight of the passing sea. We headed to the buffet for breakfast and enjoyed our meal at a window seat. To our surprise we enjoyed this day was at sea. We did not get sick and took time exploring the ship. We were blessed with a day of calm seas and sun. Our favorite spot was the ship’s stern (the tail end) where you could watch the wake of the ship while sitting around the pool. Truly relaxing.

We decided to attend the “New Cruisers Welcome Event.” The focus of this event was to

explain how you move up the ladder of benefits the more cruises you took. Offers to sign up for another cruise with discounts were also presented. There was a drawing and of course we didn’t win.

Tim decided to go to a class on playing the steel drums. This class was actually an on-going class in which participants would eventually perform in a talent show at the end of the cruise. He enjoyed the class but only participated for the one day. Pat took an Art Appreciation seminar. After lunch, we attended a class on acupuncture and Chinese medicine. These services were available on board.

We had our dinner with fellow Airstreamers. At the sit down, you have two waiters and a limited menu. You can bring two bottles of wine on board and bring them to these meals if you choose.

After dinner we went to a production at the Princess Theater, a large two-story room with seating for 700. We saw a production entitled “Bravo” which was a blend of opera and pop music. We were impressed by the quality of the production.

Another beautiful day at sea. Honestly, we think that we might be spoiled by this trip. The sea has been so calm. We have heard and read stories of not so tranquil waters.

Headed back to our room to prepare for our first stop…Falmouth, Jamaica.
