Although we were here last winter for a couple of days for our niece's wedding, it was still nice to visit St. Aug's because the weather was a perfect sunny 73 degrees and it's just a fun, compact city to explore .... with excellent culinary choices. We got there early so we had more time and far less people to deal with.
A couple of interesting facts...
1. St. Augustine is the oldest US City, established by the Spanish in 1565, hence the nickname Ancient City.
2. The Fountain of Youth, made famous by Ponce de Leon is here.
3. It boasts the oldest port in the United States.
4. The Sisters of St. Joseph were founded here.
5. It has Harry's Restaurant, which is a Cajun joint that we don't ever miss.
Speaking of Harry's, we had lunch today with Pat's cousin and husband, Joanne and Chris. The shrimp and grits are to die for. Well not really, but you get the point. While there, we bumped into Vicki and Roy from our neighborhood, along with
