The short 20 km drive to Ao Nang was probably one of the most scenic we've seen. With the massive rock formations and hills covered in jungle popping up all along the road, we were mesmerised. We had finally found the Thailand paradise shown in the photos of so many guidebooks!
Ao Nang beach did not fail to impress: on both sides of the large beach limestone hills covered with the deepest green jungle plants jut out proudly and beckon one to come closer and admire. The beach itself is not one of the prettiest in Thailand, but the views it offers are gorgeous; and the town situated alongside it is filled with shops, pubs and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our only day on this beach, spending hours on the beach and trying some delicious Thai food. Our sunset beers on the promenade were especially enjoyable, as we got to see a very entertaining but strange game that the local kids were playing. That night we embarked on our daily mission to find cheap, authentic, tasty food. We had heard that the numerous "thai" Indian owned restaurants were a bit of a rip off, so after much searching and restaurant hopping we opted for our favourite type of place a nice local street stall. The food was amazing and as always we had a great feast.
Monday morning we had a leisurely breakfast before packing our bags and scampering onto a longtail boat. That night we were to meet the Muller parents on Railay beach; and so we made the very pretty crossing over the waters to Railay.
