Our hotel in Can Tho had managed to book seats for on us on a very nice bus line - we were very surprised. It cost a tad more, but with aircon and comfy seats, who's going to complain. The trip to Rach Gia was not a pleasant one though. The roads are bad and traffic was steady.

We were not sure what to expect from Rach Gia: a seaside town? A normal crowded town?

It hasn't really impressed us as much as Can Tho had, so we've decided to only spend one night in the town. It has some pretty places, many official-looking buildings, and many cafes. We're itching to get to the island though, so exploring Rach Gia further has been put aside. We did have a delicious hot pot for supper - they place a tiny open fire in a clay pot on your table, with a pot of tasty veggie soup on it. You are served raw food (fish or beef) and then add it at your own pace. Supper then becomes many bowls of soup, noodles, and meat. Yum!
