Laters London - MC and JD's adventure back to NZ

Another beautiful day in Paris. Time to try see how much French culture we have picked up.

Another lazy start with breakfast and a coffee looking out the window at the Eiffel Tower, bliss. A fitting view as we are headed there today. After some more admin and North America planning we navigated the metro once more to find Rue Cler, a shopping street near the Eiffel tower.

We set about perusing the local shops and putting together a picnic, ordered pretty much all in French! Once we had this we went to Champ de Mars for a picnic below the tower, probably one of the more picturesque picnics we have had. Something about eating baguettes and cheese with a glass of wine while watching tourists try for the perfect photo makes you feel rather French! Although we might not quite be there yet as our glasses were actually keep cups!

Next on the list was a spot of

shopping and then back home for a rest. Tonight we are meeting up with Caroline, a French friend we met in London. We met in Caroline's neighborhood of the 19th arrondissement, near canal de l'ourcq. This is an up and coming area...read gentrification. We also found another reminder of the number of refugees and immigrants still coming into Europe, open air French lessons occurring in the main square. Caroline took us for a wander down the canals where we sat and drank cider while watching the sun go down. Later on we said goodbye and headed to a local brasserie for dinner of snails, steak and steak tartare. I think we are doing pretty well at being French!
