Travel day today. Relaxed start to the day as we enjoyed our last morning and last jambon fromage croissants in Paris. It was raining pretty hard today as well, lucky with the timing!
Not too much happened. We ordered breakfast in French for the last time in a while, had a walk around Montmartre to post some items and checked out of the accommodation. We said goodbye to the famous windmill by our place and then it was on a train to the airport.
We’re really sad to say goodbye to Europe for a while. As we sat in the airport, with not much to do but play Uno and watch half the plane be selected for ‘random searches', we reminisced on our four years living here and all we have done. There have been a lot of adventures and new experiences ... that might be another book in the making here!
Our flight was with Norwegian Air and was excellent. On a brand new dreamliner plane which was super comfortable, apart from the temperature. Apparently, they keep it cold to combat the effects of jet lag. We will need to prep better for our next flights! Three movies (and some Big Bang Theory) later we landed at JFK airport in New York.
After a 40 minute drive to the terminal, we breezed through customs and boarded a train to Jamaica, the train station not the country. Once figuring out the subway we were on our way into Brooklyn to find where we are staying. We are in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, we found out later that this is where Notorious B.I.G grew up. It’s an interesting place and will be a great base for our stay in New York. Being 5am Paris time it was definitely time for bed.
