So despite the late night the jet lag is still running strong. We were awake early but are feeling surprisingly fresh.
We headed down to the local cafe, Manny's, for breakfast on the recommendation of the hostel. A massive serving of French toast for Jo, rated the best she has ever had, and a bowl of grits for Crom. Turns out grits isn’t what we thought. It’s roughly ground corn kernels boiled with milk and water to make a type of savoury porridge. Amazing. Great recommendation and we will be back.

Our main activity today is catching up with an old friend of Crom’s parents, Kellie. Kellie picked us up from Manny’s as she lives not too far away. We drove down to Brooklyn Heights to go for a walk with the dog, Bronson, across Brooklyn Bridge. It was a beaut day for a walk with a view and we were not the only ones! We were joined by what felt like the whole population of New York. Amazing views and so much going on, we even saw some snakes.....!
Once back to Brooklyn we headed down to Brooklyn Park to sit and enjoy the view of the Manhattan Skyline and Lady Liberty while calling Janet and Graham in Clyde. Great to catch up. Kellie dropped us at High Street Station so that we could head into Manhattan and find Kellie's recommendation of burger joint for dinner. Corner Bistro your burgers are amazing!
Next up for the night was a show! Why don't we walk to the theatre we thought? And 20 blocks later we finally found out why, blocks are long here! The Broadway show we are going to is Kinky Boots and the tickets we got were on 'will call' which means you pick them up from the venue, so we got those while there was no line!
Tucked behind a staircase we found a beer and whiskey bar for a quiet beer before the show. We were educated on some new kinds of beer and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
While lining up to get into the show, there was a guy selling anti Trump memorabilia on the Anti-Trump Bandwagon. So funny to read all the badges while we waited. What was also very funny was the show. Kinky Boots is hilarious and is definitely a must see if you get the chance.
Before heading home we made a quick detour to Times Square. This really is an assault on the senses, especially at night. There were A LOT of people matched with A LOT of brightly lit screens advertising everything you could think of. Once we had done a lap and brought an ice cream it was time to head back to Brooklyn for some well deserved rest.
