Laters London - MC and JD's adventure back to NZ

A bit of a slow start to the day today after maybe one beer too many, although Justin reckons it was dirty beer pipes at dinner last night.....

We are off to visit Toronto properly today. First stop was Chinatown and a walk into Kensington Market. We grabbed a coffee from a place that does a gold leaf ice cream. It was well over the top! Next was a walk around the rest of the market and some tacos for lunch. After this we headed to the beach!

Toronto is on the shore of Lake Ontario, one of the five Great Lakes. It is so vast that when you stand on the beach, you can’t even see the other side, it looks like an ocean. This is really weird because we are used to being able to see the other side of lakes, and anything this big in our heads should be salt water. What an impressive lake! We went for a walk along the promenade and marveled at it.

After walking for a bit, we went up to the high road to find a snack. Canada has a national dish called Poutine. Basically a

Basically a

serving of fries with gravy, cheese curds and cheese loaded over the top. We found one with pulled pork on it also. It is very good, especially washed down with a craft beer, but definitely would not make it into any healthy eating guides.

Once we had eaten, we headed to visit a friend of Jo and Kendell's who also lives in Toronto. Fraser is English from Birmingham, but worked with Jo and Kendell in Perth. Small world. Awesome to catch up/meet him, his wife Maria and son Dylan.

We had to leave so we were not late to our dodgeball game. Kendell and Justin are in a social dodgeball team and were a guy and a girl short this week.....Great timing! Bloody funny game played in a church hall. Interesting to play back to back games for an hour in a league that is mostly self regulated but a heap of fun. Dinner in Korea Town at Tofu Village where tofu comes with pork and we topped it off with fish waffles for dessert (no fish included just shaped like a fish). Not a bad introduction to Canada!
