This weekend we are in Blair Atholl staying with Bobby and Elaine and their two kids Eva and Findlay. After a morning answering calls and talking to people about the events of yesterday, who knew getting engaged was so exciting, we opened the curtains to a grey and drizzly Scottish summer day.
After a detailed lesson on barbie dolls, we headed out for lunch in Pitlochlry, where Elaine grew up. After parking at Grandma’s we walked into town for lunch. While we were in the local whiskey shop, the heavens opened for 20 minutes of some of the heaviest rain I have ever seen. After waiting out the rain in the shop, we headed back up the hill to the car, where Elaine and the kids went back to Blair Atholl and Bobby, Jo and Crom went to the Edradour distillery above Pitlochry for a tasting. This was the smallest distillery in Scotland until a few months ago. After finding out we had to do a tour to get a tasting, we bought a couple of small bottles to taste at home.

Blair Atholl, Scotland
Once back in Blair Atholl we had some further education on current children’s toys and Netflix programmes before we headed out to Bruar for a picnic dinner of fish and chips in the playground. After an ice cream we took the back gate into Blair Atholl Castle Grounds for a walk around and to see where Bobby and Elaine got married five years earlier. Not to forget the opportunity to climb on the adventure playground. After visiting this amazing spot it was back home for the night.
Sunday started much the same, apart from a three year old climbing into our bed at 3 in the morning, needless to say he was very confused to find that it wasn’t his Mum and Dad! After showering and playing with the Play Mobil set, we headed back to Braur for a walk up and around the Falls. This was a great start to the day and a great effort from the kids! Once we were back in Braur we had a coffee/hot chocolate and headed back to Blair Atholl. We went round the corner to Elaine and Bobby’s friends, Debbie and Finbar’s place, for lunch. After a huge feed and cuddling some guinea pigs, we headed back home for the night. An awesome weekend and great to see where Bobby and Elaine live. Thanks so much for giving up your bed for us and can’t wait to see you in December!
