Today didn't start so well for one of us. After our first pizza in Italy, Jo was a frequent visitor to the bathroom for the best part of the day. I think her stomach is still getting used to Italian food.
Crom however had a leisurely breakfast and did some research on what to do to fill in 4 hours before the train the Monterosso. However this went out the window as we when we were packing up to check out we looked at the train tickets and saw our train left in 40 minutes. Lucky we are staying beside the train station!
After checking out and finding our train, we had a bit of a different train journey. We ended up going through Genoa, where only the day before lightning had hit a bridge, collapsing it and killing 40 odd people. A pretty somber experience. After this the journey picked up with some stunning views of the coastline.
Once in Monterosso, the first village in the Cinqure Terre National Park, we had to literally fight our way off the platform.

Milan to Monterosso, Italy
Today didn't start so well for one of us. After our first pizza in Italy, Jo was a frequent visitor to the bathroom for the best part of the day. I think her stomach is still getting used to Italian food.

The popularity of this place seems to have outgrown the train station! The trains are now longer than the outdoor platform so we ended up disembarking the train in the tunnel and then walking along to the rest of the platform! After a short trek into the old town we found our accommodation and settled in.
After feeling so ill and the disappointment that our laptop was no longer charging... Jo understandably went to sleep for a few hours and Crom went for a walk. An amazing little town town with so many people! Wandering around to find out where everything was, take some photos, sample the local gelato and get some supplies for the next few days was a joy. I'm looking forward to a few days here.
P.S. Apologies for being MIA the last week or so while we encountered technical difficulties...keep reading to find out how we have gotten back online!
