Laters London - MC and JD's adventure back to NZ

We have an early flight this morning. The alarm went off at 2.15am……
After driving through the mist of the Highlands to get to Edinburgh Airport, we got on our 6.30am flight to Barcelona. Hopefully the last Ryanair flight ever!!!! After waiting on the tarmac for another half an hour, we made it to Barca and its 30 degree sunshine!

After finding the hostel, we made some lunch and sat on the roof terrace waiting to be able to check in. After we checked in, we got into the Spanish culture and had a siesta for the afternoon. Once we had woken up and sorted ourselves out, we went for a walk around the harbour and Gothic Quarter, recognising a few sights from our last trip here. We found our way back to the tourist street, La Rambla. This is where we stayed 4 years ago on our first foray into Europe and it has not changed. Street vendors and restaurants dominate the street, but it has a great atmosphere.

After winding our way back through the side streets, we went for dinner at a restaurant around the corner from our hostel. The Spanish have come up with the best way to serve food, Pintxos. Small bites of different food, all for 1 euro each. After enjoying a few with some beers, Annie and Dan walked past and joined us for a drink. The world is a tiny place. After beers and food, bed was needed again after such a long day. Spain has had a great start.
