TX Gulf Coast to FL Keys Road Trip Mar 2015

Day 3
Low key day because of rain, wind and it was only 48 degrees out. We ate a nice breakfast at the hotel and then headed out to explore the island of Galveston at 11:15 am. We ended up down at the piers on the bay side of the island where we saw cargo ships waiting to load/unload their goods. We also saw a Carnival cruise ship which leaves Galveston weekly. We found the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum that we were looking for today. This was an awesome museum!!! We were there over 3 hours learning everything about how we get our oil. Very educational.

We then headed to Gaido's Restaurant for an early dinner. Larry had some nice shrimp with potato wedges. I had a very nice pesto pasta dish with a cup of cream of spinach soup. One word - amazing!!!! One of the chefs there was from Buffalo, NY and has been on the Iron Chef Show. We continued around the island and found a great campground called Jamaica Beach RV Resort. We both agreed that we would definitely spend some time there if we ever came back to this area of the country.
Back to the hotel at 7:15 pm to relax and get ready for an early morning departure. Wait until you hear about tomorrow's adventure...

Love you all!
