TX Gulf Coast to FL Keys Road Trip Mar 2015

Day 6
Yes, today was all about "swamp time"! Larry slept in while I went to an 8 am service at St John Lutheran Church in New Orleans. I was reminded about Jesus clearing the temple so that all people would start having faith in God instead of annual sacrifices. It's a good lesson to be reminded of.

Larry and I left our hotel and headed to Jean Lafitte Swamp Tours where we enjoyed an 1 1/2 hour boat ride through canals and bayous. Our guide, Brent was full of knowledge about the local area, alligators, snapping turtles and all that swamp life has to offer. We saw lots of gators, turtles, an otter, an armadillo and a few birds. And then the BIG surprise for the trip back to the dock was - are you ready? Brent brought out a LIVE baby alligator for us to pass around and take pictures with. Well, I started panicking because anyone that truly knows me knows that I do not get close, much less, touch any reptiles. So the closer this thing got to Larry and I the quicker my poor heart was beating. Then, all of a sudden, I was holding this creature and it was moving in my hands. Well, let me tell you, I was freaking out. I told Larry to hurry up and take the picture before I passed out. Of course, he takes the alligator and posses with a big smile for his pic! Have I told you all lately, that I LOVE my brother????

Well, after I recovered and we docked, we headed back out onto the open road for Gulfport, Mississippi. We are staying at the Navy Gateway Inn & Suites on the NCBC Gulfport Seabee Base. Time to relax and get a good night sleep. They are projecting rain for the next 4 days along the Gulf Coast.

See you all tomorrow!
