France

All the young people are moving out. There are many houses for sale. Laguépie is a town that is slowly dying. But to the outsider it has so much to offer. It was sad.

The hill out of town started at our front door step and climbed for many kilometres before following a ridge line. At the town of La Fouillade we stopped for a coffee and ended up chatting to some English people who gave us some good advice on the best route to follow to Villefranche-de Rouergue. We arrived sopping wet and with the help of the office de tourisme planned a route to our accommodation at Les Rives 10 km further on. We slogged our way

up yet another monster hill and collapsed on our beds absolutely exhausted. It was a tough day of only 45 kms.

Part of the reason we chose our hotel was it’s address. Impasse des Kiwis! We asked but no-one seemed to know the origins of the street name.
