We followed a very rough gravel road for about 20 kms with wild bulls to one side and pink flamingos to the other . The previous evening Sally had spotted some wild horses as well. While riding we passed several processions of tourists on horseback déambuling through the marshes and the paths.

We followed a very rough gravel road for about 20 kms with wild bulls to one side and pink flamingos to the other . The previous evening Sally had spotted some wild horses as well. While riding we passed several processions of tourists on horseback déambuling through the marshes and the paths.
After the gravel came St Marie sur la Mer where our first stop was the seaside. After 5 weeks of riding we had officially crossed France so we took a selfie of us at the méditerranéen, with great pride. Over 1900
kms from our start point in London.
We stopped for lunch where we had WIFI for the first time in several days so took the time to read our emails and fire off a couple of quick hellos. After lunch we followed the little Rhône inland to its first bridge where we bought some locally grown red rice. ( Yes we are actually in France)
Then we headed off to Aigues-Mortes for the evening.
After crossing the Rhône - Sète canal we had an incredibly good bit of luck. We spotted a path along side the canal which lead into town. We stopped to wait for the traffic to go by so we could cross the road.
WHOOSH.
That was the good bit of luck.
We had stopped off to the side and while waiting a car went past with a large metal pole poked out the side. At head height. We both agreed that had we still been riding on the road we almost certainly would have been seriously injured ( at a minimum) The car following him gave us a toot of support. Perhaps he saw the look of horror on our faces. There are idiotic drivers all over the world and today was our chance to almost meet one.
The evening was spent in a Chambre d’hôte where the rooms were beautifully furnished, clean and tidy, a nice bath and exceptionally good value. Our best so far on the trip. Town was just 3 minutes walk away so we wandered to the Tourist Office where we made use of the Free WIFI before getting kicked out at closing time.
