Gardens! Lots of them!
First up was Terrasson. Les jardins d’Imaginaire.
There was nowhere to leave the bikes so Sally went to the gardens on her own. I played guard dog, and spent most of the time tweaking my bike to reflect the slight differences between the old and new back wheels. Sally loves the gardens.
Prehistoric man made this valley his home and it easy to see why. It is an absolute sun trap and the river has gouged out many caves in the
sandstone. Ancient humans then carved out their own.
In this valley are the world famous ( in the world) caves of Lascaux . The original are now closed due to years of damage. They have created a facsimile cave in the rock nearby. To visit you have to leave your bikes unattended and catch a bus. We decided against it and instead made the most of WIFI.
At La Roque St Christophe we stopped at one of the troglodytique villages and once again Sally went off on her won while I played guard. I booked a hotel for the night at Tayac and then asked the cashier for some advice on the best route to the town. When Sally came back we started discussing our trip and he was so impressed with our périple that he gave each of us a souvenir medal.
Yet more wonders awaited us. At the village of Taysac is the prehistoric museum of France. It is tucked in under a huge cliff with more modern hoses built onto the cliff face. We were gobsmacked yet again. We had a picnic dinner along side a small babbly brook.
