AUSTRALIA

The trip to the Great Ocean Road yesterday was the best, far better than I imagined. I was very impressed with our guide and her concern for climate change and the loss of species here in Australia is awful. It drew my attention to how beautiful and unique Australia is and I'm so glad I came to see it.

Today is the day for packing, but to make the most if it I used my Myki card to get the tram to Fitzroy. This is a run down older area that has been transformed with converted apartments costing millions, but the character being kept. It was full of coffee shops, vintage clothes shops, boutiques and record shops, as well as "Op Shops" (like our charity shops) and $ shops, a real mix. There were old homes with the beautiful wrought iron fronts to the 2 storey balconies and some of these were run down and looked unlived in, but others were full of tiny pretty gardens. I even saw a car parked that looked like it came from the past!
