The celebrations on the 26th were amazing, I enoyed it as you see. The local area is full of old buildings - it is were the first settlers came. Further into the city I saw one of the old Vuctorian arcades. But this step of my journey is about exploring the vast no of places I can get to from here at the Rocks harbour. Visitors come by tram, train, ferry, boat and cruise lines right outside. I got a travel card and set off for Watson's Bay on the ferry. I got the 1st photos of the Opera House as it is, more to come, and the little coves just a few minutes away. I did the walk to the Lighthouse on a very hot day! I also walked the Royal Botanical Gardens seeing beautiful tropical plants and a Kookaburra! I had a day at Manly on another ferry, which has a beach like Bondi beach, and had a fabulous time swimming at the little Shelly Cove there seeing fish with my goggles, I finally learnt to put my head under the water to see the reef. I was suprised to see on the beach Water Dragon lizards and Bush Turkeys! On my last day I walked over the bridge to the outdoor Olympic Pool of fame in the 1950s and Luna Park and got a ferry back from Milston Point. I love all this travel by boat, but did take a train to the run down but trendy Newtown for a meal one night. A final BBQ your own trout for dinner. A last look at the celebrated Lunar Chinese festival too, a local carving and art by Guan Wei.
