Reizen met Gerrie

“Here…where the land ends and the sea begins.” was how Camões described the Cabo da Roca in his famous book ‘Os Lusíadas’.
Last Saturday we hiked on the westernmost point of mainland Europe: from Cabo da Roca to Azenhas do Mar. It is approximately a 40 minutes’ drive from Lisbon, and about halfway on the road from Sintra to Cascais. The site is open to visitors and has a breathtaking view of both the ocean and the Serra de Sintra.

The ocean stretched out before us and everything just felt so peaceful and quiet. For the hikers under us, the best period to visit the incredible Sintra are Spring and Autumn. The weather is good and there isn’t a lot of toerism.
