As I mentioned before, my last couple of weekends existed out of going back to my safe space, wild camping with the people who are close to me. In addition to my obligations during the week for study, I try to make the most out of each weekend (especially as I approach the end of my time here). This weekend Obídos had to go! Gazing at flowers, walking through small villages, yoga on the beach, not to be missed: wild peeing and connecting. That sums it pretty much up!

Óbidos is located sufficiently close to the capital, atop a mountain close to the Atlantic coast and was once of strategic importance for the defense of the territory. It was populated even before the Romans took the Iberian Peninsula and experienced an even greater boom from the moment it was chosen by the royal family. When King D. Dinis gifted the town to his wife, D. Isabel, in the 13th century, Óbidos became the town of the queens of Portugal, who spent several dynasties beautifying and enriching the town. This is also one of the main reasons why there are so many churches in this small town. Therefore Óbidos is a UNESCO City of Literature.
