I stand for 5 minutes with my eyes closed, trying to catch all the sun's rays. Warm from the sun. Light from the wine. My feet in the sand and the sun slowly dancing away behind the horizon.
I spent 3 nights in a hostel with friends in Lagos last weekend. What a weekend..
Sharing grateful moments. I am grateful, I feel grateful. To be with people around me who love, who appreciate what the earth gives us. Where I may be vulnerable and may withdraw if necessary. Where I am SAFE.
I feel inappropriateness, ashamed for my burnt face with a big smile on it. What is going on in the world now, makes me even more aware of how privileged I am to be able to be here in safety. Not having to be afraid. Knowing that my house will still be there when I get home. That my family can worry about who watered the plants or not.
Being FREE. To be SAFE.
My heart goes out to Ukraine and Russia. But also to all other countries that are in conflict. For the people who did not choose this. For all the people who know loss, feel sadness and fear.
