The 2017 solar eclipse passed right through Nebraska. Lincoln was in the path of totality and we were invited to my Brother in Law, Doug's farm that would have a little more time in the path of totality. I think we had about 2 1/2 minutes of darkness.
We had the grandsons that day and brought them with us. Lynn and Doug have lots of fun things to keep 3 active boys busy. They got to ride on the lawn mower, Tanner got to drive the tractor, they caught bugs and tried to catch frogs.
Many family members made it out to watch and it was pretty cool to observe the temperature changes, crickets chirping and we even saw the shadow bands that looked like thousands of snakes right before the total eclipse happened. The traffic was horrendous. They estimated 450,000 people visited Nebraska just for the eclipse. Every hotel and campsite had been booked for months possibly years.
Doug grilled hot-dogs, everyone wore their eclipse approved eye-wear and a good time was had by all.
