Dubai Part II

In my last travel blog, many of you had asked questions in the comment area. I was not able to answer directly on that blog, so I thought I would answer them all here.

Q-Who is the old guy with me?
A-That would be Mr. Troy

Q-Is Troy's car a Rolls Royce?
A-No, We are driving a Nissan Pathfinder

Q-Do we have a pool at our place?
A-Actually there are 6 buildings in our complex and 6 pools. We are able to use any of them.

Q-Who is house sitting?
A-Our daughter, Hannah and her husband Dustin are house sitting and most importantly, dog sitting our Zoe

Q-How long will we be here?
A-It originally was set for 1 year. Not sure if that year started August 1st when Troy took the position or December 18th when we arrived in Dubai. The real question is.....Do any of us know how long we will be here? God writes our story and this is just one chapter.

Q-Are there other Americans Pfizer employees?
A-Yes, they work on different floors. The rest are from all over the world.

Q-Do I venture out each day?
A-I sure as heck don't stay in all day

Q-Ever feel danger?
A-NO, No, NO, I can walk by myself at night in our parking garage and feel safe. I feel safer here than back home sometimes.

Q-Do people bet on camels?
A-We did not see this happening, but know that they must because of the large facility and we hear that they do.

Q-What is shisha?
A-Shisha is the tobacco that is smoked in a Hookah (glass pipe). It is not marjuanna. The tobacco can be mixed with many different flavorings such as, mint, apple, strawberry and many others.

Q-Is there an entry fee to Global Village?
A-15 Dirham which is about $3

Q-Do people in Sri Lanka speak English?
A-Heck, not everyone in Lincoln, Ne speaks English. Yes, but it can be very broken.

Q-What does Troy do for Pfizer?
A-He is the Human Resources Lead for the Pfizer Essential Health business for Africa and the Middle East.

Q-Robot guy?
A-Actually this is more of a clarification. The Robot Guy at the mall was Iron Man in Hulkbuster armor. Whatever!

Q-How will we adapt to the pace of Nebraska?
A- Please refer back to the question how long we will be here. We will probably revert back to couch potatoes. It will be nice to be around family.

Q-Was that a real tiger?
A-Yes, it was a real tiger. No, I did not pet it. My face was photo shopped on our taxi driver's picture of him petting a real tiger.

Q-Because our expats coffees was cancelled, is someone watching us?
A-Not sure, it might be pretty boring if they are. We are just meeting in different locations now. A 3rd party could be reading this too right now. A big shout out to them if they are.

I think that is all the questions from the last 6 months. With this new blog, I will be able to answer any questions left in the comment sections.

Just to sum it all up. Troy and I love it here. He loves the work and the challenges it brings every day. We feel very blessed to have this opportunity with Pfizer. We have been able to travel and see things that we would not have done if Troy would not have taken this position. Our small group and church family are very close. It is so different from back home. I feel because we are all expats with no family here, we are drawn closer to each other. It really is like the Acts church that is described in the bible. We miss our family and friends tremendously, but keep in contact through video messaging. We have also had many visitors and been able to show them around our beautiful new place we call home.
