My diary

Luckau/Frankfurt-Oder games.
Game day again it is very hot. Predicted to be 38 degrees! We arrive in Luckau and we come across a super little ground tucked behind a few houses. Grass as well the players will be happy.
Lucky we play only 2 x 20 min halves as it is very hot. The Luckau team is quite good but both boys teams win and so do the girls. The players are well looked after for lunch and so are the coaches. We have a couple of midday beers and for $1.50 we get a litre of beer. We share the beer as it goes hot too quick.
As it is so hot we take the kids to the water park nearby. Great little slide there and a pool. Everyone swims. We even do 4 laps for local charity running that day. Very refreshing and kids enjoyed it very much.
Even harder to sleep this night as very hot and humid!
The heat didn't dissipate into Sunday for our big games against Frankfurt-Oder. If anything it was hotter ( we subsequently found out it was the hottest day since the 1800's there) due to the artificial surface we played on.
Both boys teams drew despite given away several years to both teams. The juniors went 2-2 and the seniors 0-0. Some very intense quality football in which the heat probably helped us more than the Germans. Essentially that was the end of the football for the boys as they had a game cancelled later in the week.
That night we all were thankful for night time to arrive and a storm came and cooled things down to a bearable level.
