My diary

Training and a wee bit of rest.
Brekky was early today and involved an egg, salami, ham and cheese sandwich. Staple diet for brekky this trip I feel. No dangerous side effects detected even though key ingredients of ham and egg are present. Interesting though my choice of breakfast was nothing compared to Mitchell Fox and his Cornflakes in OJ. Yuk and double yuk!
We then went upstairs for our regular German lessons. Amazing how much simpler they make the language more than I remember. I might even be able to learn it one day. Then Rale took a tactical session and it still amazes me his memory and attention for detail when recalling events, matches and people from the past.
We the hit the training paddock with the prospect of finer weather ahead. I actually saw the sun pop out for a little while before the rain came again. Not really rain but annoying scuds of showers. Training was good and I joined in day with my new boots. Yes I am a bit off the pace - ok a lot, ok heaps!!!!! Nevertheless it was great fun and good to,be active and playing football (if that's what you call it lol).
Lunch was sausages and salad. Interesting enough they have changed the meals around after we had a conversation the other day. Usually Europeans have their biggest meal of the day at lunch and we have it at dinner. After some very light meals at night they reversed things to perhaps lesson the culture shock. It seems to have worked as we had a big meal of roast pork tonight. I actually spoke to chef as I thought it was beef. He said no way as a roast beef would cost him 24 Euros a kilo. He was a little bit amazed when I told him how much we would pay for a roast beef. Lucky us but I guess no beef this trip -although I am enjoying my transparent prosciutto in the mornings.
Following lunch we had a 5/6 hr break so players could have some downtime. Although we are so isolated the nearest shop is 15 kms walk away. So boys did washing and chilled in their rooms. I read a book and attempted a sneaky nap with no luck.
Training started at 6pm and it was as sunny as 3pm. Yes I did say sunny. Again I joined in and I am as rusty as an old gate. But like I said good fun anyway.
Dinner was roast beef and now we sit watching a Euro U/21 game between Germany and Czech Republic. So bed soon and a new day tomorrow.
