Winjana Gorge was lovely. The road there was awful, so we were surprised when we pulled in and saw so many campers already there. We arrived in time to walk through the gorge as the sun was setting and lighting up the rocks. There were little fresh water crocodiles; mum counted 16 in one spot. The fresh water crocodiles were quite small – about 3-5ft long. They didn’t move much in the afternoon. The campers said the crocs are more active in the morning. That night we laid out on our inflatable mattress to watch the stars. We didn't see a shooting star, but we did see a satellite.

Not far from Windjana Gorge, we stopped at Tunnel Creek. From the road it looked like another red rock mountain; the Napier Range. But we followed a track down through the bottom of the mountain. A creek had worn away the tunnel through the mountain, so we waded through cool water most of the time. It was about 700m through to the other side. It didn’t look much like a “tunnel”. The path through was mostly wide and tall. There were some really cool nooks and caves as we walked through. Most were up too high for us to explore. They would be an excellent hiding place if you had a rope ladder. A famous Aboriginal – Jandamarra, hid there from police over 200 years ago.
At Fitzroy Crossing we stopped for the night at a big grassy caravan park. There were lots of kids there. We played with Tom, Macy, David and another girl too.
