Perth to Darwin

We stayed at the Lighthouse Caravan Park outside of Exmouth. On a hill behind the caravan park was a lighthouse that isn’t used any more. There was a big anchor there too that Mali climbed on. Right over the road was the beach. Grandma said that one time when they stayed at this caravan park, kangaroos were all over that road at nighttime.
We drove down that road to get to Turquoise Bay. The water was beautiful and clear, and snorkeling there is supposed to be amazing. You get in the water at one spot and you drift with the water current to the other end of the bay. We didn’t get to do this though. It was drizzling and a bit cold most of the time we were at Exmouth.

We also drove out of Exmouth to visit Pebble Beach. That was amazing; a beach with hardly any sand, just smooth, colorful pebbles and a few shells. Mali and I collect five each to keep. We each found a small pebble with a hole all the way through. We are hoping to wear them on a necklace.
We went into the town of Exmouth twice for different supplies. In town there were wild cockatoos everywhere, hanging around like seagulls. The first one we saw, mum didn’t realize it was wild, and she stopped to chat to it. She tried to get it to talk, thinking it was someone’s pet. She felt silly later, when she saw a whole bunch of them sitting on a fence.
