Well, apparently I didn't take many photos the first two days of this trip. Whoops. Anyway, this is a travel diary of an Irwin family trip to Scotland and, for three of us, Copenhagen and Finland. Seven Irwins, including Greg & Carol, Jeff & Cindy, Curt & Peggy, and me (Emily) took the journey.
The trip began for five of us on Friday, June 26 with a flight out of Chicago. Curt & Peggy left the day before. We arrived in Edinburgh around 8am and headed off to our rental at 5/1 Bellevue Place. There was some sleeping, snacking, and a trip to a pub in the afternoon. In the evening, we had a tour called Doomed, Dead, and Buried. It began outside St. Giles Cathedral, on the Royal Mile.
Our tour took us into the Blair St. Vaults, a series of underground rooms formed by the arches of South Bridge. It was more of a ghost tour than a history tour. In fact, one of our number was asked to play an Edinburgh gentleman who made a deal with the devil. Shockingly, it did not end well. We ended at Canongate Kirkyard, then stumbled back to the rental for some much deserved sleep.
