Our day started with a swift walk to the train station (made more enjoyable by our luggage). The 4-hour drive took us through central Scotland and the landscape grew more mountainous as we got closer.
We had a few hours to kill between our arrival and check in at Ivybank, the rental where we would be staying. Ivybank, as it would turn out, is a large manor house built in 1836.
The River Ness, which flows from Loch Ness to the Atlantic Ocean, runs through the center of Inverness and we enjoyed the view while we waited.
