Aotearoa

Woke up to a gorgeous, misty (low cloud) view of lake Te Anau, then headed off towards Lumsden (picked up some petrol - petrol is expensive, with prices ranging from $1.96 p/l to $2.34 p/l in Franz Joseph) before turning north towards Queenstown. The drive to our hotel was fairly quick except for a short lunch stop at the excellent Boatshed Cafe (Corn Fritters & Lentils for M and Chia and Berries Pudding for O, along with the obligatory double shot flat white and soy chai latte). The Rees hotel was superb, with panoramic lake views, king sized bed and spa (with a view), very expensive, but mostly paid for with FF points. We walked into town for dinner, about 2.5 km, and had a beautiful Hainnanese Chicken and Chicken & Prawn Laksa at Madame Woos, preceded by Lime & Lychee Caipirinha and Penang Mary cocktails, spicy and delicious! We then went to the information centre to book our activities for the next day and walked back to our hotel. Queenstown looks enchanting!
