Aotearoa

Rode the Skyline gondola (steepest in the Southern hemisphere) up to Bob's Peak, at the top of Ben Lomond Reserve, where you can get magnificent views of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu. Decided the quickest way back down was to jump off so we took a tandem paragliding experience, not cheap at $290 each - even more magnificent views + we got the video, just click on the link below! (M enjoyed it so much he might take up paragliding as a hobby.)

We then went over to Bespoke Cafe for breakfast as we heard it was voted NZ's best cafe but nobody mentioned it was also NZ's most expensive (all of Queenstown is expensive) - but a good breakfast all

the same. From there we drove to Arthur's Point on the Shotover River where we jumped aboard the Shotover Jet boat for a thrilling, high speed, 30 minute dash up the canyon sided river and back again, performing multiple 360 degree turns... hang on tight!

Sadly, the combination of paragliding and jet boat caused Olja to get a touch of wind burn on her chin, which took a few days to clear up. Back on dry land, we decided to take a nice long walk around the Queenstown Golf Club peninsular... Very pretty and extremely peaceful apart from the sound of a pile driver hammering away at the

new bridge. Headed back into town for a bite and got half price fish & chips at Finz Restaurant (courtesy of our paragliding promo), plus a salad and a beer - best fish & chips we had in NZ! (M is on a quest to find the best fish and chips in the world - so far Moir Fish in Sydney takes the prize!)
