Middle Ages
Living here in France you go to a lot of Medieval towns, and villages. You see a lot of history and a lot of old buildings. You visit a lot of churches and castles and towards the end you realize a lot of them look the same. Although we did not physically visit Château de Pierrefonds, I can see that this castle is something I have never seen before.
This castle was built in the 14th century and was later destroyed in the 17th century by King Louis XIII. This castle did not get reconstrued until two centuries later when artists, painters, sculptures, and engravers started to pay attention to it. They became inspired by the castle and used the era of Romanticism as a way to rebuild and decorate the castle. The castle was fully restored by architect Viollet-le Duc, under the direction of Louis-Napoleon III.
This castle was built in the Medieval Ages, but because it was destroyed a lot of the castle was in rubble and ruin. However, due to it being fully restored the newer model resembles old qualities and characteristics of Medieval architecture. With the castles, flying buttresses, Gothic Rose windows, towers, peaked rooftops, and heighten arches, this castle looks Medieval. Although I did not see or visit this monument in person, I would really enjoyed this castel. I think I would have enjoyed it more than other castels and buildings we visited. In the future, I will defentily make this trip and would love to go and visit!
