Serving at MLK has been an honor, I truly love this church, its mission, the people, the staff and the way they love the Lord. It’s apparent that MLK serves as a beacon and a light in a dark environment for the French community. People are drawn to this church and those that do attend regularly grow a lot in their walk with the Lord. Paris, in general, is a heartbroken city and you feel the heaviness around you, however, I have

realized how incredible and unique MLK is. This church is not like every other church here in France, this church is a spirit-filled, passionate church full of love for others and Jesus. Being able to serve in has been a great chance to not only meet new people, get more involved, but also provides us with the opportunity to practice our French.

My first time serving in the church was last week and I helped prepare meals for the staff and families that ate after service. I helped the cook, Gary put the food together into containers and then helped pass out the food later that day. Once I was serving we set up all the food on the table, along with beverages, and desserts. I learned how to ask what people would like to drink, how many they containers of food they needed as well as what kind of dessert they preferred. Through this, I got to meet a lot of new people that I would not have met beforehand and got to learn more hands-on French. I enjoyed serving that week and enjoyed all of those people that I had met.

As far as choosing different places to volunteer and serve, I believe we will be able to be a part of all of them. I am looking forward to this because I will be able to see all sides of the church and see how much people make a difference in a church. Looking forward to serving again soon.
