Paris

DIY Excursion

During this time I was in Italy for Fall Break and we visited a lot of incredible, historical and monumental places in Rome, Florence, and Venice.

One of the places that was incredible to see was the Sistine Chapel in Rome. We could not take pictures of the ceiling inside but it was truly a sight to see. I had learned about all of the art and architecture the year before I came to Paris so it was really nice to be able to understand the art on a deeper level. For example, within the painting on the biggest wall in the front, there is a man holding another man's foreskin, looking limp, and lifeless. This symbolizes Michelangelo himself and his emotional & physical state after the Sistine Chapel was finished. He is that limp almost dead looking figure the other man is holding.

It was also really cool to see Michelangelo's work in person and know the story behind the Sistine Chapel. I was showing the other girls I was with all the symbols within the picture and described what they all meant. I loved it!

The whole museum was very beautiful as well. In order to see the Sistine Chapel, we had to travel through the entire museum first due to the Sistine Chapel being towards the end of the museum. However, besides walking serval hours across the museum, it was a great experience, a day filled with beautiful world-changing art. I am always in awe at how talented these men and women were, and I am so blessed by their artwork. I would love to go back to see the Sistine Chapel one day and fully take my time with the other paintings and art pieces in the museum.
