Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving here in Paris is a holiday Parisians do not initially celebrate however it is becoming more and more popular amongst the younger generation. The food is very similar, from mashed potatoes to vegetables, to turkey and the idea stays the same, fellowship. Here in Paris, the students all put together a Thanksgiving meal for ourselves. We did invite the people in the church but most of them were busy, so we decided it would be wise if it was just us, and it was fun! We all went to the market together and bought everything we are going to make for our meal.
We bought vegetables, green beans, carrots, squash, zucchini, and potatoes. We searched all over for a turkey but had no luck finding one so we settled for some roasted chicken instead. We bought two roasted chickens and ate all of it. We, of course, bought a couple of baguettes to share and have with butter. For dessert, we had several things. We bought an already made apple pie and heated that up, we bought vanilla ice cream and we also bought a chocolate cream pie. It was a lot of food and a lot of sugar! We all had jobs to do, the boys took care of the chicken and desserts, the ladies handled the table and the vegetables.
We all sat down and talked about our whole trip, why we decided to go and what we were thankful for in this season. It was really fun cooking together and setting up the table. The food was really good as well, and it tasted even better! We enjoyed each other and laughed a lot. I have been truly blessed by all these people and have enjoyed this time with all of them! This will be a Thanksgiving I will not forget!
