Later on in our holiday we decided to go to Trincomalee. It took a long drive which was about six hours to get there and the long journey was definitely worth it.
When we got to the officers bungalow (where we stayed) we met Prasad uncle. He had told one of his army friends (he is an army soldier) to bring some tea in a hot flask for all of the adults including my grandma and grandpa and before we knew it we were getting ready for a really late night.

The next day we were ready for our very first adventure in
Trincomalee. We had a huge delicious tummy filling breakfast of indiappa (stringhoppers) and we were off to Girihanduseya. For those of you who don't know Girihanduseya is the very first chetiya in the whole entire world! So we decided to climb up to the very top and we did take lots of pictures. We got up to the top and looked at the Chetiya and we found some flowers and kept them as souvenirs (although they got rotten!). When we climbed back down again everyone had some Beli flower water and the shopkeepers also gave us some delicious and a little bit spicy wade. While we were there there was a deer and he came up so close to us that I was lucky enough to pat him. At the end he tried to come into the car! When we started to drive off their was a goana and he was pretty much a deer with antlers (I liked to call him a reindeer) and he was pretty cool too!
The next day we went to an army museum and there was this army soldier who worked at the museum and he showed us around the museum (me and my sister thought it was a bit boring so we ended up watching the fish in the fish pond!). He told us about these anchors (they looked like bombs to me) and this weird thing that looked a bit like a cannon. The army soldier showed us the olden days washing machines and typewriters.
Later on that day we went to Thiriyaya beach which was right next to us (kind of like our neighbor) and the beautifully colored sand tickled my feet as I strode through the beach. I pulled up my rose colored tights getting ready for a splashy start. I ran swiftly towards the water
splashing all of the way. Later on my dad joined me and we were having such a great time showering, playing and splashing in the water we forgot that it was nearly time to go home to Mawaramandiya. We sadly walked back to the bungalow and got into our clean outfits, loaded the car up with suitcases and headed back home.
