I woke up and took a taxi to Gatineau; with in that city was a museum. The Canadian Museum of History is extraordinary as the place it was built. With lots of architectural designs and sculptures. You can be sitting there for hours just looking at the designs. But we don't have time for that. I am here for the famous IMAX Theater they so much talk about. Plus, the buildable cities you can do on the other side of the museum. I walk in and pay my fee of $30. I walk through the exhibits seeing how Canada formed. Let me give you a summary of Canadian history. Canada, which has been inhabited by natives including the First Nations and the Inuit for about 10,000 years, was first visited by Europeans around 1000, when the Vikings for a short time had a livable space. More permanent European visits came in the 16th and 17th century, as the French settled here. They traded much of their lands with the British in 1763, and after the American Revolution, many British Loyalists settled in Canada. With the passing of the British North America Act the British government granted the request of the French and English leaders of the colony of Canada, the status of a self-governing country on July 1, 1867. More definitive independence came in 1931 with the Statute of Westminster, and in 1982 with the repatriation of Canada's constitution. On July 7, 1969 French was made equal to English throughout the Canadian national government. In the second half of the 20th century, some citizens of the French-speaking province of Quebec have sought independence, but two referendums have been defeated, albeit marginally in the last case almost 50% were wanting independence. I went to the IMAX Theater to watch the D-Day draft in Canada. Apparently, Canadians were the ones to declare war on the Axis Powers. So after one day, we then declared war. So they were the tough ones. Watching D-day happen in 3-D is pretty scary; especially since all the bodies litter the beaches of Normandy and men just getting mowed down by MG-32's. After that, I left and headed back to Ottawa to go to The Whalebones Oyster House. Now to get from Gatineau back to my hotel is about $23.03. I get a taxi to The Whalebones restaurant which I spend again $23.03. As soon as I get out the taxi, I smell love literally...Food of course.
I will continue my adventure tomorrow. Right now, I need to eat some fresh seafood and enjoy. They have really nice people over here. I admit it, this place is like a paradise and a place that I can settle down, live in, maybe get a Canadian wife. That's crazy. See you tomorrow!!
