Semester in Ecuador: Quito & The Galapagos Islands

Weather: Sunny, hot, and 81

This week has been pretty hectic so far as I am trying to get all of my projects and exam turned in for Political Ecology. Yesterday was the group exam and we were working on it from 9am to 4:30pm with an hour break for lunch. I am so happy that it's behind us now (23 pages later). Now all I have to do is a small research project, and then an annotated bibliography, both are due Friday. We turned in a collective lab report about our plastics research on Monday that was about 16 pages. Another thing that I am happy is behind me. This is the first time that I've had work that I can't seem to find the motivation to do. It'll get done soon enough.

Yesterday we had our meeting about Spring break and I am super pumped for it. We are hiking a volcano, snorkeling, and visiting lava tunnels in Isabela, which are three things I really wanted to do. I'm hoping we see some penguins while snorkeling. Some people have been really uptight about Spring break plans and they've formed cliques so today I'm meeting up with a few friends to figure out some plans and hopefully get some plans set in stone. At this point, I am down for whatever I just need some buddies to go with. It's tough to plan because my closest friends here have their parents coming, so I am going to tag along with other friends which is fine. It would definitely be better to have my closest friends around, but I know we will have plenty of time to do things on the weekends when break is over. After returning back home, I finished my fourth book and I plan on starting the fifth today! Dinner was lentils with rice and a fried egg. you mix them all together and it is an unreal taste. I want to get the type of lentils from Tania so I can whip up a dish for Mum and Dad.

I finished up antibiotics for my face today and there was definitely an improvement but the bump on my face is still there. I'm starting to think congestion has to do with allergies (but who knows) so if it continues post spring break then I plan on buying some decongestants or allergy meds. They weren't kidding when they said if you get sick in the islands it takes 10x as long to get better. Time is flying here and I can't believe I head for break this Saturday. When I first got here it seemed SO distant.

More to come...
