Weather: 82 and Sunny, cloudy in the AM
This morning I actually slept/rested until 9:15am and this is the latest I have slept since being here. I am usually up everyday by 7:45am at the latest even on weekends. It was truly a monumental moment and my body clearly needed it. As soon as I was up and dressed breakfast followed shortly after. I think my family slept in a bit too which was why I could. Anyways, we had grilled cheese with eggs for breakfast. It was really good and soon after Anahi and I were off to meet Nicola and Sara because we were going to Tijeretas.
This was the one place I was kinda saving to see. I didn't want to rush and see everything in our first weekends here and this is one spot I haven't been. It was time to explore since it's really close to Punta Carola. We followed the trail for about 25 minutes and then it opened up to a cove that is Tijeretas. It is absolutely gorgeous and there are caves that have been made from erosion by the waves. We took in the scenery for a minute (Nicola, Sara, and obviously Anahi have all been before). What surprised me is Anahi was taking pictures right along next to me which made me feel less touristy. We left our stuff at a bench and made our way into the water. It's pretty rocky and we had to battle some crashing waves pushing us about getting in but it was worth it. The water was so refreshing and the views were incredible. My snorkel mask shattered in Santa Cruz so I wasn't able to snorkel today, but I think Kayelyn's mom is leaving me her mask when she heads back to the states. I will definitely head back there again before my time here escapes away! Nicola and Sara had some baby sea lions swimming with them for awhile which was really cute but apparently, other than that there wasn't too much to see while snorkeling today.
Anahi headed home and Nicola, Sara, and I headed to Mockingbird for lunch and after we headed to a tienda so they could get gatorades. We all got little pack of oreos. Nicola and I tried the "cookies and cream" oreos. It was really good but such an Oreo move to make a cream that is made of Oreos. Afterwards I headed back home for a shower and a much needed facetime call with mom. I have an interview with the Alaska Longline Fisherman's Association and this has been my top choice all along. I was not expecting to even have an interview as it's very selective and not an easy internship to get. I put this idea of being in Alaska out of my head, and was thinking I'd be in Boston. From the beginning I have told myself if I got this job, I would take it. After talking with Mum I have that mentality once again. I would have a good month home before having to head off which is a perfect amount of time to decompress from my abroad experience. Again, I only have an interview and I don't want to jump the gun but it is definitely a big decision to make.
