Damn do I have mixed emotions today. When I think of getting off the plane in Boston and seeing Mom and Dad it makes me excited. However, walking to school for one last time today, and going to lunch at Fresco for one last time is really starting to set in. I have to be at the airport tomorrow for 10am, and I am really curious to see how I handle that. I never thought I would get emotional leaving Ines, but I did. I think they may be taking me to the airport tomorrow so that will be rough saying goodbye to them.
To rewind a bit, I went to final class of GIS to present my final project with my group. It flew by, I finished our field assignment with Micah and Megan, and then by 10:45am I was heading to the beach. Once 12:30pm hit, Sara, Lucy, and I headed to Fresco and got her homemade veggie pizza with a salad. It was absolutely delish and a good lunch to end on here. We had her vegan brownies one last time (I ended up getting the recipe for this and her falafel, but I am convinced I won’t be able to do it as well as she does). I headed home to finish packing and then journaled a bit, wrote a thank you note to my host family, and headed back to the U for some cake. Today is a carb day for sure because my host family is taking me out to pizza later as a goodbye. I am excited my last meal won’t be fish, but when I am in the states it will be awhile before I have any pizza or fish that is for sure!
After hanging out with some friends over cake, we headed back to the beach to hang out until sunset. I ended up going with Nicola, and Steph to Muyu for happy hour. Muyu is the fanciest hotel on the island. I think one night there runs about $400. It's ridiculous and Muyu is the restaurant that is on the first floor of the hotel. I sat with them while they had some drinks, and then headed home to shower before my last dinner with the host family. We headed out to Calypso at 8pm and they got the usual half veggie half meat pizza for us. They got me a nice Galapagos t-shirt and a cute turtle keychain as a goodbye present. It was so nice of them and it was a great dinner. We talked about movies and actors, and just hung out. After dinner, Mateo rode on these little pedal go carts you can rent. $2 gets you 15 minutes or something like that so we waited for him to be done and watched the lobos on the beach. We slowly walked back towards the house and I left to go to the pier to hang with Sara and some other people as it's our final night on the island. Helena was sad that I was leaving her but once I told her I would see her in the morning she seemed to relax a bit. I ended up hanging out with people until 1:30am. Reflectign on the day, it was very wholesome. I finished my junior year, I spent a final meal with my amazing family, and I saw friends that I may or may not stay in touch with for years to come. It was a great final night, and I headed straight to bed after that and anticipated my flight out tomorrow.
