Today was the day my tour group was able to visit the Gesú church in Rome. The day was very humid, but the interior of the building was absolutely stunning. The huge scene on the ceiling was said to be inspired by Michelangelo himself and included shadows to show depth. The building was packed to the brim when it came to decorations which the tour guide said was the Catholic church´s response to the Protestant reformation. The building had many depictions of drama as well such as the use of lighting, and it appeared that the nave was theatrical. We couldn't stay long in the building, but overall, it had left an impact on my group on how the Roman church was affected during the reformation.
