My very first Easter out of the United States was a lot of fun! We started off the day by going out for brunch at Holy Belly. Then we came back to Creteil and attended Easter service at MLK. After the service, we returned to our apartment to share Easter gifts and encouraging words.
Easter in Paris is similar to Easter in the United States. There are Easter decorations in most of the stores and Easter gifts are advertised everywhere. At MLK, Easter is celebrated just the way it is often celebrated in American churches. A resurrection message wash shared followed by communion. I am very grateful that we went to church because it made me feel like I was in the United States.
Our Easter meal was not traditional but very delicious. In Paris we did not see any restaurants advertising traditional Easter meals, but we did see restaurants advertising their own Easter specials.
I’m so grateful for this Easter in France because it helped me to better understand that God is with me everywhere, I go. It is so very important to pause and take time to honor and remember Christ’s sacrifice and the life he has given us through his resurrection.
The most important part of this Easter was getting to spend time with fun friends. Together we got to encourage, laugh, and celebrate. Through study abroad we have gotten closer and learned how to find comfort in each other. Together, we have created a home. A home full of love and spontaneity.
