For my April DIY excursion, I tried a new coffee shop called Pico; located near the Louvre. Pico is a small coffee shop that opened up about a month and a half ago. Its atmosphere and design are very clean and polished.
Though I don’t like coffee very much, I love going to coffee shops to study. A good coffee shop for me, is somewhere where I have a comfortable space to work and Pico is exactly that. On the main floor, they have the kitchen and counter along with a few tables. In the loft area, there are more tables and a bathroom. I enjoyed studying in the loft because I didn’t feel distracted by those coming in on the main floor.
Also, the owners of Pico were very kind and friendly. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. They were also not at all bothered by us staying to study which has been hard to find in France. One of the owners, in particular, was extra friendly with all the customers who walked in; with a few of the customers he even sat down to chat!
Since I do not like coffee, I ordered a chai latte at Pico. I realized that chai lattes in France are not as sweet as they are in the United States. I noticed that it did seem to taste a little spicier than chai lattes back home. I’ve enjoyed trying drinks I normally get in the United States in France because most of them have been completely different from what I am used too. I’ve learned that French teas and coffees are definitely stronger than those in the United States.
I’m really grateful that I got to try a new coffee shop this month. It is so easy to stay with what is familiar and to not want to branch out and try new things. I’ve learned that I like to be adventurous with foods and drinks wherever I go.
