Rome Artifacts Peyton Fralick

The Pieta is among Michelangelo's finest work. The Pieta is a statue of Marry holding Jesus' body after he was taken off of the cross. This statue has an extraordinary amount of detail. Marry's robes are folded and wrinkled as if it were made out of real cloth rather than marble. Mary seems to be very strong and somber. She is holding her sons body looking down at him, she is visibly sad but seems to be holding it together. Jesus looks like a very realistic dead person. His limbs are hanging down and his head is rolled over on the side.
