Day 5
It's 07:30. After spending the night drinking with the guys from Singapore, I am now very hungover. We went out to a place called Shisha , it was a bar with live music and cheap rum. The entire place had great vibes, we sat in an area full of cushions and psychedelic art. My fellow backpackers decided that it would be a good idea, to get a 2,5 liter tower of beer and a bunch of drinks each. As the night progressed it got more and more out of hand, until the point of walking home (450m) took us about 25 minutes. Day 5
Apparently they are going to do a trek for 2 weeks and then go back to Kathmandu, this
is similar to what I have in mind so we decided that we where all gonna meet up back here in about 15 days.
Anyway...
The clock turned 10 and me and Max went to Bhaktapur. It is the place in Nepal with the most temples in a single spot. I wont be able to show you the bus ride because it was very intense, however I will try to describe the mayhem that is Nepali traffic. We started walking towards the biggest bus station in the area, when we got there every bus apparently went to Bhaktapur, and when you got inside, the bus driver said the opposite. Eventually we found a bus that seemed to be heading to our destination. There where three employees on the bus, the driver, the guy in the passenger seat who made sure we had music playing for the entire ride and a young boy who jumped in and out of the bus, screaming different destinations at people who stood at the sidewalk. He didn't go quiet more than five minutes of the bus ride, that went on for about 1 hour and 20 minutes. When we finally arrived we where met with a sign that said 1500 NPR entry fee, we decided to see if the rest of Bhaktapur had something similar to offer but eventually paid and went inside.
The temple area of Bhaktapur had a lot going on, huge temples that where filled with offerings and lines of people clad in orange and red fabric. The smell of incense was present throughout
our entire visit. Fires where everywhere in the temples and all of the surrounding houses where full of detail. The part of the city with all of the temples went on for several kilometers and around 15:30 we felt like getting on a bus home.
Back in Kathmandu, we found some ATM's and walked through the Market area where Lina bought her scarf yesterday. I bought one too...
Now I'm back at the hostel again after being out exploring an entire day and eventually eating "Paneer palak" at an amazing restaurant called "Western Tandoori". I just met a new group of people who got moved into our dorm and they all seem to be very friendly.
