Family History Tour 2016

Today was a driving day. We were sad to say goodbye to Chris and Toblerone, his dog. They had been lovely hosts. We left the Isle of Wight, crossing the Solent from Yarmouth to Lymington. As we went across we read Alfred Lord Tennyson's 'Crossing the Bar', a poem he wrote whilst 'crossing' this bar.

We actually drove quite quickly on occasions when we were on an 'A' road, making it up to 70 miles an hour. But there was still plenty of snaking around narrow roads and lanes!

We drove in to Lyme Regis for lunch. The weather continued to be cold, a little windy and some rain. We walked up the street to find a cafe that served Cornish pasties. Unfortunately they weren't very good.

It was pleasing to finally reach our next accommodation - a thatched cottage in Jacobstowe. We can cater for ourselves for the next three days and it was good to have a home cooked meal.
