Family History Tour 2016

Having concluded the Family History investigations, this morning we had a slow start. We took a while over our English breakfasts and chatted with Chris, our host.

Late in the morning the ladies left Father behind and we went up to Newport to get some souvenir shopping done. At the Edinburgh Woollen Mill shop we bought jumpers and clothes. At the markets Mum and Aunty Jean bought some summer shirts. We had morning tea of toasted tea cakes (our latest favourite) and cream tea sitting in the square that surrounds a beautiful church. It felt very continental!

This afternoon we headed out to the western end of the island to see The Needles. As has so often been the case on this trip, the rain set in. It was quite wet by the time we arrived and there was no hiking or riding on chair lifts to be done. We could just make out the Needles (a chalky rocky outcrop) through the rain. We sat in the car and had our picnic fish and chips, washed down with a glass of Pimms. What a picnic!
