Alaska RV Trip

After another 6 hour drive across the Nevada desert, we arrived back in Granite Bay on Sunday afternoon. Needless to say, we were tired and discouraged. We knew our only option was to take the trailer back into the dealer and hope they could REALLY fix it this time. So, bright and early Monday morning we were first in line at the service department. By 1:00 PM (yes, the same day), they called us that the fridge (they installed a new control panel) was working and we could pick up the trailer. And it did work....briefly. We woke up Tuesday morning to a refer with an 80 degree internal temperature. So back to the RV dealer we went. For fix number three, they installed an entirely new refrigerator. Once home, we watched the temperature rise a degree every ten minutes or so. At this point the Happy Daze mechanic actually came to our house to check it out on our end. He left with a promise that he was going to get us on our way. Many phone calls later, it was decided that they would poach yet another new refer from an older stock number (thinking that the more recently arrived refrigerators were all defective). Happy Daze opened their entire service department an hour early this morning (Thursday) and had

He left with a promise that he was going to get us on our way. Many phone calls later, it was decided that they would poach yet another new refer from an older stock number (thinking that the more recently arrived refrigerators were all defective). Happy Daze opened their entire service department an hour early this morning (Thursday) and had

a crew there ready to swap refrigerators. Once home, it began to fail again. So we moved it down the street to more level ground. That seemed to do the trick (along with a block of dry ice). With fingers crossed, we decided to head out.

On our second attempt to go North, we headed straight up Interstate 5. We lost five days over the refrigerator debacle, so we decided we needed to just haul @#$%*! (plus we've already been to Winnemucca, so had to try something new:) We made it to Weed by 5.The fridge was almost down to correct temperature and things looked promising. However when we switched it over to electricity, the thermostat began to climb again (7 degrees in an hour). Needless to say, we switched it back to propane. If that keeps it cool, we can manage and keep going. Hopefully,we will be back on the road heading north in the morning.
